DON CANNON AND THE COOL KIDS - GONE FISHIN' from zachwolfe.com/live on Vimeo. WORDS FROM THE HERO It doesn't even matter that HsH is the 67,000th Website / Blog to Post up A Link 2 Download "Gone Fishing" The Cool Kids Pre-Album Mixtape Hosted by Don Cannon. If I were 2 take a guess on How quickly this project spread and how many official (meaningful) Downloads Gone Fishing has Generated, I wouldn't even know where to begin but after searching "Google" for "The Cool Kids" & "Gone Fishing" I saw A little over 300,000 (Three Hundred Thousand) hits!!!! That's quite alot in just a few days. I heard somewhere They Recorded this project in 3 days and it took two weeks to finish the whole jawn. "Junk Planet" my 1st album took me from 99-2002 to Write, Record, mix, master, and wasn't released until (2004) and I bet it still hasn't reached that many Ear's (purchased or Free) same for my album released via Rawkus Records Digitally "Crush Your System" (Click Here 2 Download). The Funny thing to me is that I guarantee that 75% of those who posted the record, Did so based around HYPE and POPULARITY. Where as The Only Reason that "GONE FISHING" made it on "THE HOBBYSHOP HERO" was because I downloaded it - Listened to it - And have since had it on Repeat along with all the other music I love and they are all in Shuffle mode. Cus (I) personally think The Cool Kids have banged out one of the dopest Records I have heard in A loooong Time. The BEATS! - Not sure who was on production for this joint, Prob Chuck, tho Im not positive so don't quote me. The Beats are Insane. They all BANG, The Drums Are Thick but always Dusty, yet Crips, Crackling and Sonicly Superb. Breakbeat Meets The Little Drummer Boy - Nothing Fancy, no Offbeat, Ill Swing ish, just Raw Drums! The Samples are limited and simple..... which works because Chuck and Mike Spit nothing but HEatrocks, no filler rhymes, All Catchy and Clever and Cool...... Its hard to be Cool and Clever at the same time without Dumbing your ish down or going over Ninja's Heads. but The Cool kids pull it off well like Lord Finese meets Phonte meets........... I guess to put it simple. "I Dig it" .... I can only wonder if they put out a pre-album with Real hiphop Bangers to Equal out the Cross over - Sell out ish stuff they Intend on releasing? I doubt it but it makes sense if that was the case, because After this Record, I'll give em A "caca" pass but even tho The Hype Engine is in Full Gear for The Cool kids, And People either Love them or hate em..... I have always been A Fan and will continue to untill they make back to back wack albums like the Black Eyed Pea's (whos 1st album is A Classic, and tho I will always Respect they hustle, I will fast foward most of theyre music hahahaa) Aiight Kikko's and Thun Duns, I'll See you all when Fish Ride Bicycles. 5000, The Hobbyshop Hero Offical "Linkage" Below
