The 300th post - Congratulations HsH!!!!!!!!

______________________________________
WORDS FROM THE HERO

Happy 300th post everyone! I know what you are thinking..... 300 posts? That isn't that many, well you are correct if the posts where made by A staff of writers, or if the posts were just thrown up without much thought.

The Truth is, The Hobbyshop Hero was created, designed and is solely maintained by Dutch VonEpp Ziegler, Professionally known as Dutchmassive, Also known as "The Hobbyshop Hero". This site was created as an extension of the Music I create and is used as my bridge from Artist to Fan, Created as A Fan.

Just as each word in each verse in each song in every album and each sound in each record sampled for every beat used to create my albums is precious and personal. So is the Content I choose to post in this forum dubbed, THEHOBBYSHOPHERO.blogspot. To be completely honest, I've spent more time from 2007 till now researching content, browsing the Internet, learning new programs, building my digital portfolio than I have creating music. Some times A post takes an hour or so, but many times 18 hours go into searching, editing, resizing, color coding and tweaking these posts. I'm very proud of how far the site has come from the birth till now. When I 1st created it, I never imagined getting 20,000 hits a day which isn't that much in the world of Web Sites, but I am happy to know that you are able to enjoy the things I get so excited about!

In Celebration of this monumental number (hahaha) I decided to give everyone A peak into my private Space and took photo's of "The Bed Room" the day before I packed everything up and moved shop!, The Images of my surroundings should give you an IDEA of why I am THE HOBBYSHOP HERO!

Thank You for your precious time!

Happy 300th post!

Dave Notti x Hi-Res -
The New Chill

WORDS FROM THE HERO

Pe@ce, I want 2 start this off by saying, This Entire post Below the Line was HI-JACKED from one of my favorite websites www.freshselects.net . I did so because I really, and I mean really have enjoyed this project the past Month. Dave Notti remind's me of of one of my favorite emcee's who happens to be another Dave hahaha "Dave Ghetto" - by that, I mean he sounds like my favorite type of lyrisist. The one who has something to say and doesnt just rhyme to make it sound good. I highly recommend downloading this project and taking a listen for yourself.
I want to thank Dave Notti, I want to thank Hi-Res and I want to thank Fresh-Selects for making this project available for my ears.

I am putting together my Fall Introduction Mix as A Annivesary to my heart being shattered and never healing properly. You will definitly hear A joint from this project on the mix...

Until then.

I’ve got the FRESHclusive debut of some brand (ironically) new heat from the Portland hometeam - The New Chill by MC, DaveNotti, and producer, Hi-Res. The project is a free EP that not only finds common ground between both solo artists’ seperate, signature sounds but also breaks some new ground as well to forge… well - a New Chill. The name of the project, as Notti explains it, “branches off from all of us, not just Hi-Res and myself, but [our whole crew]… just wanting to be able to chill and be cool without any of the drama. We decided on The New Chill not because of a “new crew”… but rather a “new atmosphere” - change, if you will. Our new music styles are a testament to this change as we sound nothing of our former selves.”

Dave also went on to explain that the concept behind the EP wasn’t too complex - “just smooth beats from Tim [Res] meets NY grittyness! All the while showing versatility with the few concepts shown in the project. We wanted to give listeners something short but sweet.”

Also included in the .zip file, alone with the EP, are full artwork, liner notes, and even a bonus video of Notti & Hi-Res new chilling. “The video is just an example of how this album was made - weed, video games, friends. That’s it. We just wanted to show how we get down.”

You can preview three of the 6 tracks before downloading the full EP below. Also, be sure to leave some feedback - both the 5th and 8th people to leave a comment on this post will get an exclusive bonus download of an unreleased DaveNotti remix.

HsH Artist spotlight: Slakah the Beatchild - Enjoy ya Self (Official Video)

WORDS FROM THE HERO

Even tho I am in a very transitional stage in my colorful life, holding on to the hope of very big life altering promises while lounging at the bottom of A very dark and narrow pool of "ah this sucks" I still have that Classic Cracked Grin Smile Attitude to Push forth even if I am walking around my apartment complex searching for A ounce of Available Wi-fi signal to make sure that when you put the few moments a-side in your life to visit THE HOBBYSHOP HERO that you are greeted by Amazing Content no matter what =)

I Purposely searched out for something that would put that Extreme chilly Fall happy Vibe on that special someones Face, the type of sound remnicent of driving in A Chromed out Black SUV w/ the tinted windows halfway down, Black/Blue lights barely visible under the seats, cool and crisp fall air blowing and tickling the skin while you keep warm in A slighty off Yellow Ecko Sweater w/ Maroon trim.......I know you will Enjoy this one, If you actually make it here hahaha

Slakah is A dope Musician period. Well Rounded, exciting, and well.......... just listen.....

I gotta thank my man ONRA out in France for putting me onto this cat, along w/ Hazel =)

Enjoy.

NOTE 2 SLAKAH & HAZEL: I'm Ready, Able and Willing to do the damn thing whenever you feel the time is right for the Classic Collabo.....What up ONRA! you already know! - Dutch

Slakah the Beatchild - Enjoy ya Self (Official Video)

Directed by: Slakah the Beatchild
Assistant Director: Melanie Durrant
Written By: Slakah the Beatchild & Ayah (b.joseph, m.bishouty)

_____________________________________________

The Following Info was Collected from BBE's website , Word!

Slakah The Beatchild represents the evolution of the enigmatic producer. Five years ago the urban landscape was ruled by the super production gods. Names like Dre, The Neptunes, Timbaland and Dilla (R.I.P.) conjure up visions of walking celestial beings blessing us with musical gems. Then the internet came and completely changed the producer paradigm. In the past the artist/producer title was a choice, now it’s a prerequisite as musicians struggle to stay relevant in the hearts and minds of ‘gimme, gimme’, attention-deficient listeners. If an artist is going to get by in ’08 they have to be a musical multi-tasker and Slakah fits perfectly into that lane. He’s a musical chameleon whose gifts are only truly realized in the presence of other talented artists and musicians. This is why The Soul Movement Vol. 1 is such an effective introduction to this kid’s budding abilities. Featuring collaborations from the cream of Canada’s burgeoning talent (Drake, Tona, Divine Brown, Shad, Melanie Durrant, Ray Robinson, Ebrahim and so many others) the album is feel-good new soul with enough of a world-inflected influence to keep it fresh. It’s an ALBUM! Meaning the songs are built to complement and augment each other so grabbing one or two songs and popping them into your I-pod won’t do this soulful effort justice. Standout tracks are Enjoy Ya Self, Get Down Right, The Answer, Crate Love, B-boy Beef, I’ll Be Alright & Bad Meaning Good.

DJ ROC RAIDA MEMORIAL POST (R.I.P.)

WORDSFROMTHEHERO

The picture above is perfect to me, I look at this picture and you can tell that the smiles on each and everyone of their faces is sincere as ever........

(Sigh)

I Always have trouble w/ posts or subjects in general that have to due with the passing of ones physical form to the spiritual world. I think what bothers me the most is that humans, or life in general passes each moment and only A select few are highlighted and held above the rest. Not a personal feeling, just an observation. We had a lot of Movie Stars, Musicians, Family and friends pass this year is what I keep hearing from people but honestly, we have had no more this year than any year prior. The big difference in 2009 that makes things stand out so much is the transfer of information has now become instant w/ websites such as Twitter, myspace, Facebook, Blogs, etc...

My Grandfather "Pop Pop" passed away last week. "EDMOND ZIEGLER". I have been meaning to make it up north to spend time w/ my fathers side of the family but have never had the means to do so. There was so much I wanted to discuss w/ my grandfather and tell him and just never really stopped to think about him not being around when I finally have the chance. see...............during this time, I was given A Beat to write to for Celph Titled's new album. The track is Celph Titled, Majik Most & myself, Dutchmassive (Equilibrium) for those who know us as the Independent Super Group that Stopped making Records Together A few years back. The beat was produced by Legendary Beatsmith "BUCKWILD" and the subject for the song is "TIME" - Any which way you slice that concept, there are a lot of ways you can go when giving the subject of Time to write about. Celph knew that this would be a topic I would be able to master due to my Colorful life of procrastination, Sitting on Tracks and beats, Wasting time, Taking the wrong fork in the road more than once hahah, Lost love, etc..... What he didn't count on was the fact that there is just too much to write about that It would be impossible for me to sum up my thoughts in a 16 bar verse.

Time Moves Forward and another loved one passes on. For those who grew up in the 90's and were intimately involved with hip hop, you are most likely well aware of Roc Raida. The X-Men (X-ecutioners), as I knew of them Rob Swift, Total Eclipse, Roc Raida & Mista Sinista were the east coast greatest. Years pass from Nineteen 90 whenever til now, and I am grateful to have seen these 4 superheroes on the turntable live!, more than a few times......The most memorable of them would be the Common / Xmen show @t the Rub in Ybor City Florida, Thanks to Another Legend I am thankful to have in my life DJ SANDMAN. That show was one of my greatest memories in life. I was in 10th Grade and Sandman gave Majikmost & I stacks upon stacks of flyers to pass out, It was the 1st show I ever promoted and I took alot of pride in doing so. The show was PACKED!!! Obviously being in 10th grade we were way to young to be able to get into clubs but DJ SANDMAN Always and I mean Always had my back and got me into everyshow until I came of age. Those were the days of Goosebumps & Smiles, Always getting backstage, or stalking the Dj Booth with my ear next to the speaker while Dj Fader Played Classic after Classic after Classic...... Do you understand how great of a memory that Flyer provides so many people?...... Image how many people Roc Raida or any Artist has affected in a postive way!

(ROC RAIDA & DJ SANDMAN)

My path in life even took me on a road that caused me to live in the same Apartment Complex as one of DJ DOMINATION'S Good friends, So I got to chill w/ him and hear him brag and boast his world of porno collection and how he would oneday Destroy The X-men in A battle...We all know how that turned out.....

I havent even thought of these memories in such a long time. my condolences to all of Roc Raida’s close friends and family and all of the fans who he touched over the years.

With So many Deaths being so public this year I hope that it instills A want to cherish those around you while they are still there. Cus tommorow is never promised. Yesterday is Gone. Time Travels on.........

Sincerely, Dutch VonEpp Ziegler, The Hobbyshop HERO

WORDS FROM THE HERO

Ah man, I Stumbled across this piece of gold and I had to post it up immediately. I just finished A post a while ago about Pac Div & U-N-I which made me think of Tanya Morgan, Why you ask? because of that stupid saying "Hip Hop is Dead" or "Hip Hop isn't what it used to be...."

Its groups / artists like Pac Div, Tanya Morgan, U-N-I, AML (Buff1, Now On, 14kt), Blu, Dela (BEAT FANATIC / FRANCE), Hollyweerd, J Live, Oddisee, Mishoo the Drumkit, Jazz Addixx, Kixnare, Intact!, etc that are living Audible proof that hiphop is not dead, In fact hip hop doesnt seem to be wounded at all. It has just grown, changed and gone digital, You just have to learn to Adapt to your surroundings =) Since the introduction of MYSPACE to the world, the Music industry (in general) has become very over saturated. The Double Edge Sword hahaha

From the moment I saw the video for "We Be" and then heard Von Pea's verse on The 1st Foreign Exchange album I knew that we would have to create A Classic together....
