A Pipe Dream and a Promise DROPS April 7th, 2009 on Interdependent Media.



A Pipe Dream and A Promise pulses with the evolving Detroit hip-hop sound; a multi-layered blend of hard-hitting beats, abstract electronic instrumentals, and illustrative lyrics that tell the personal story of a man’s journey in a city on the cusp of a simultaneous economic breakdown and musical resurgence. Featuring production from J Dilla, Black Milk, Flying Lotus, Notzz, and Oddisee, the album showcases the work of a variety of exceptionally talented producers, with each offering a different musical foundation for Finale to showcase his lyrical onslaught.

Speaking about the title of the album, Finale says, “That’s my definition of hip-hop. There are two sides to hip-hop or any dream that you follow. It starts as a dream that everyone says is a pipe dream. They deter you from your dreams. But as artists we promise ourselves we are going to follow our dreams.”

Before making his entrance into hip-hop, Finale worked as an automotive engineer promising to one day follow his dream of becoming a rapper. Making the rounds at local Detroit open mics and emcee battles, Finale began to mingle with local talents like Guilty Simpson and One.Be.Lo. After emailing some joints back and forth with J Dilla, Finale finally met him backstage at the DEMF (Detroit Electronic Music Festival), where Dilla introduced him to Madlib, saying that he was one of the best in the game. “It was an honor and definitely a defining moment,” says Finale. After realizing his passion and talent for hip-hop, Finale decided to finally quit his day job, follow his true passion, and make music a full-time career.

After a decade of releasing music, Dutchmassive has spent the last 6 months planning a new form of attack (free digital downloading). After releasing several 12 inches in the late nineties and new millenium and his 1st solo album "Junk Planet" in 2004 on CD & Double Vinyl, Dutchmassive was asked by close friend and Rawkus A&R, Slopfunkdust to participate in the RAWKUS 50 project. In which fifty of today's leading independent hip hop artists would each release a digital album on Rawkus Records.

 Dutch, having A few projects in the works gave Rawkus "Crush Your System" which featured the lead single "Better Man" (feat. Median & Von Pea) - Produced by illmind. The Album will be released on CD in Fall|Winter of 2008 on Domination Recordings and will feature 5 Bonus tracks not on the original Rawkus release. 

To hold his fans over and in an effort to reach an entire new audience. Dutch has decided to put together a small instrumental project around 25 minutes long setting the tone and mood of his upcoming projects. Futuristic, vintage, jazzy, mellow, boom bap, dusty yet so clean, basically just really good music. So get ready for Crush Your System / Music 2 Sleep To / Quit Work Make Music & The NEXT Final Fantasy. Not only does Dutch has 4 Full Length albums ready to unleash, but 1 of them is a double Cd, and another one will be released with A Theme based mixtape. In closing, Dutch hopes to spread "The DrumLove EP" to every Music, Fashion, Sneaker, Toy, Entertainment blog humanly possible. Peace & Peace People I was feeling a little nostalgic today over here in

Tampa bay, FL

It was raining outside and no one was home except our two cats (Agape Mo0 & Mr. Man) so I figured Id put together a mixtape for the readers to have some Super fresh music to listen to while reading and looking at all the eye candy in the wonderful Blog. you can also let it play while your in the office at work, at home doing house cleaning, where ever you may be... I tried to make it as diverse and exciting as my taste would let me (hahah) Besides alot of the songs and artists I searched for spotDJ wouldnt reconize, (one of those artists being Dutchmassive hahha) so I made the best of what I had to work with. This is now the 2nd....yes 2nd mixtape that this blog has hosted, if you've been a long time reader since we launched the hobbyshop hero, you will remember, the very 1st entry was A Mixtape and we kicked it off with none other then the Blog superstars "The COOL kids", Its a new world out there people.... A world filled with Unlimited Information a click away. Well Im rambling on. The NIKE Notebook Collection

This should be every emcee's choice of foot wear. Immediately when I saw this pack from Nike... An Image of Nasty Nas Popped into my mind. Sitting on a park bench, Spitting Flem on the streets. This was supposed to be released last august. I found out as much as I could about this shoe and posted it below. I will defiantly be on the hunt for a pair of each of these Essential emcee eye candies.

Last year’s Notebook Dunk Hi was a sucess, so Nike decided to create a Notebook Collection. Unlike the Back to School pack, all the sneakers in the Notebook Collection will come fully equipped with composition notebook print. However Nike will stay true to the theme by dropping the Notebook Collection in August This time around the Vandal High and Air Max 90 will get notebook treatment, while the Dunk Low replaces the Dunk Hi. The release is slated for an August delivery Here is the first Back to School pack with the composition dunks. Apparently Nike loves the idea of the composition look and is creating another pack of sneakers that all have the composition look.

This time the composition is not a dunk, it is a Vandal, Air Max 90 and a Dunk low (so if you have the hightop dunk and you get this pack, not you will have both hi and low of the same design).

Bringing our coverage of Nike's Back to School Pack to a close, we take a look at the final piece of the pack, the Nike Dunk High Premium QS "Marble Nikebook". Like the "Crayola" Vandal High and the "Elmer's Glue" Air Max 90, the Nike Dunk High Premium "Marble Nikebooks" take their inspiration from a School accessory, in this case, the classic Marble Composition Notebook. The "Marble Nikebook" Dunk Highs feature a Black leather/Marble (marble notebook) upper with a ruled paper print behind the swoosh and a "Nikebook" Cover logo, very similar to the cover of a Marble Notebook, on the outer heel. The Nike "Back to School" Pack, including the "Marble Nikebooks", is a Quickstrike release available to Nike Quickstrike accounts. All of the sneakers within the pack should be available soon, if not already.

In Closing....once you obtain a pair of these you will never have to worry about forgeting that dope punchline that came to you on the city bus, cus from now on you will always have a pad close by...hahaha

Mark Ward is a graphic artist based in London. His work tries to supply a sense of reality and humour in a world full of Z list celebrities and hype. Like a glace cherry gone rotten, Mark’s work references the everyday mundane and injects it into the ever out-of-reach fantasy world of the glossy media. Influences range from skateboard graphics, punk flyer's and Americana to packaging, signage and the other wonderful sights of South London. Since graduating from Central St. Martins, Mark’s work has been used internationally across a variety of media, including T-shirts, magazine covers and editorial, commercial installations and store windows. Mark uses a variety of media to create his work, and varies his tone towards the subject matter. Preferring to use a mix of spray paint, acrylic and his paint splattered Mac, Mark creates work with fresh concepts and execution.
