As 2008 shapes up to be one of the most exciting election years in history, Rock the Vote will work with the millions of young people across the country to amplify their voices in the political process. This year Rock the Vote will forge the largest youth voter registration drive in history, registering 2 million young people. Together with our partners, we are charged and excited to harness our combined power to make our voices heard. 2008 is clearly the year of the youth vote and Rock the Vote will be there every step of the way. Our goals for 2008:
- Register, educate, and turnout young voters at record levels to increase voter registration.
- Educate young people and the political community on the power of young people, and give both communities the tools to take action.
- Fight for the rights of young people in the voting process and for the issues that affect their lives.
- Lay the foundation for a sustainable organization that can continue to leverage the power of young people for long term political and social change.
About Us
The Rock the Vote voter registration widget, powered by CREDO Mobile, revolutionizes the way voter registration applications are done on the web. As a widget, it is a completely portable application that organizations and individuals can embed in virtually any web page or blog to run their own voter registration campaign.
Rock the Vote, founded in 1990 in response to a wave of attacks on freedom of speech and artistic expression, coordinates voter registration drives, get out the vote events, and voter education efforts -- all with the intention of building political power for our nation's youth and leveraging that political power to influence change in our country. Our work doesn't end when the polls close. We empower young people to create necessary change in their communities and stand up for the values they hold including diversity, tolerance, and freedom of expression. And we continue to fight to make sure that their voices are heard in Washington by politicians on both sides of the aisle, leading voters under 30 in the fight for our basic rights as citizens of this democracy, equal participation in the voting process, and equal representation by those we elect.
